Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the weather usually like?
A: The weather in Nova Scotia is very unpredictable, so it pays to be prepared for rain, warm and cold weather. Remember, you can take it off, but if you don't have it you can't put it on. Hunters should plan to dress in layers.
Q: What are my odds of hunting success?
A: You should see numerous animals, and hopefully a shooter. Our guides identify mature animals in the off season and do everything they can to get you an opportunity to harvest your trophy!
Q: What is your payment policy?
A: A-1 Canadian Outfitters requires 50% down on your hunt within 10 days of booking (to guarantee your space at the lodge), the remaining 50% is due upon arrival.
Q: What rifle calibre or bow draw weight do you recommend?
A: It's recommended that you bring a rifle or bow that you use regularily. The biggest mistake we see is hunters borrowing "large" rifles that they are not familiar with. Almost any big game or deer rifle you use regularly will do the job just fine. Bow draw weight should be at least 50 pounds. Crossbows are not allowed.
Q: What type of accommodations and meals do you provide?
A: We operate a top quality lodge with all the amentities, including sattelite TV, free high speed internet, free phone long distance (to call the family), 3 bathrooms, 2 seperate showers. The lodge sleeps 12 people comfortably. All meals are included in the price. Since we are located along the ocean, seafood is plentiful and lobster and crab (a specialty of ours) are often available, and of course wild game is included in our menu.
